Workshops to help you
make family history discoveries with ease
Get ready to change your work in genealogy with the help of Generations Connection workshops.
Make research less overwhelming, build a network of support, and help get the answers you need from records and a community that’s working on the same projects as you.
Diving into your family history can be challenging at times. There are some days when you know you need to do the work, but you don't know where to start or there's too much to do that you feel stuck.
Look no further.
September 14, 16, 21, and 23, 2021
FamilySearch is one of the largest genealogy websites in the world. But there are a lot of misconceptions about what the site is.
In this workshop, Amy Johnson Crow will guide you through the ins and outs of this valuable resource, including:
- Effective search strategies to make more discoveries
- The hidden records that you won't find from the search page
- Navigating the FamilySearch Family Tree (and why you should look at it)
- How to further your research with the FamilySearch Wiki
- Discovering the tens of thousands of family histories available to you
- And lots more!
The "Using FamilySearch" workshop will be September 14, 16, 21, and 23, 2021 with each session beginning at 7:00pm Eastern.
These sessions are interactive. You will be learning by doing! There will also be plenty of opportunities to ask questions.
What the Workshop Includes:
- 4 interactive sessions (These aren't just passive webinars!)
- Plenty of opportunities to get your questions asked and answered
- Handouts for your reference
- Lifetime access to the closed-captioned replays
In-depth genealogy workshops are often only available at conferences and institutes, which can often cost hundreds. Generations Connection has been kept at a low price to make family history research accessible to all. You can get this workshop — including the live sessions, handouts, and lifetime access to the replays — for only $99.
Plus, you can buy an Annual Pass. An Annual Pass gives you at least 4 workshops per year, monthly Q&As, access to a community forum, and more. An Annual Pass is just $270 — a 30% savings compared to purchasing workshops separately.
Genealogy doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Whether you’re just beginning, or even if you’re a seasoned pro, there’s always something new to learn, or a way to look at your research that you may not have noticed before.

Frequently Asked Questions:
How is this different than the genealogy webinars that are out there?
I'm glad you asked! The workshops are interactive, so you will not only be shown the material, you'll actually have a chance to work through it. (Learning by doing!) There are also lots of opportunities for you to ask your questions.
The Generations Connection annual pass also has other features, such as monthly Q&A sessions, guides, exercises, and access to genealogy expert Amy Johnson Crow. (Note: the monthly Q&A sessions, etc., aren't available to those who register just for a single workshop.)
How are the Generations Connection workshops different than anything I can read or watch for free on the Internet?
There is good information online, no doubt. The challenge with relying totally on free content is that it's random. You could be spending your valuable time trying to understand things that aren't really applicable to your own research. (On the flip side, you could be missing out on some topics that you really do need to know — but you don't know to look for them.) There's also the challenge of not being able to really go in-depth with questions (if you can ask any questions at all!) Generations Connection workshops takes care of all of that. It gives you structure at an affordable price. It's information that you need to know, with the opportunity to ask the questions that you have.
What's the Refund policy?
Single workshops: Because the replays of the workshops are available afterward, there are no refunds offered after the workshop begins. (In other words, the last day for refunds for the September 2021 "Using FamilySearch" workshop is September 14, 2021.)
Annual passes have a 14-day refund policy.
What do you mean by "Lifetime access"?
The workshops are recorded. You'll have access to those recordings for as long as Generations Connections is around.
I'm a beginner. Is this workshop right for me?
The workshop will be very "how-to," showing things step-by-step. You do need to be comfortable using a computer and accessing the Internet, and have a free FamilySearch account set up.
I'm a more advanced genealogist. Is this workshop right for me?
The "Using FamilySearch" workshop is very "how-to," showing features of the site step-by-step. We will not be covering research methodology.
