OhioCivilWar150.org

The Ohio Historical Society has just launched a new website to raise awareness of Ohio’s role in the Civil War: OhioCivilWar150.org. The site features:

  • Digital collections, such as Ohio regimental battle flags
  • A timeline of Civil War events
  • News about upcoming events
  • Discussion forum
  • A section for teachers

I am looking forward to watching this site grow as we get closer to the sesquicentennial in 2011. (Is that really only a little more than a year away?!)

  • I’m looking for information on Camp Toledo Circa Civil War. I have read that several regiments and artillery units were formed in Toledo and trained at Camp Toledo. Could anyone point me in the right direction for information the camp and where it was located?

  • You might want to check with the Archival Center at Bowling Green State University, as they are the regional repository that covers northwest Ohio. There might also be something in the Adjutant General’s records at the Ohio Historical Society in Columbus.
